World Medical Relief, a Metro Detroit area nonprofit that serves low-income people in Metro Detroit and around the world is expanding its local Affordable Prescription Program with a new position (PT) – a Diabetes Coordinator/Educator to lead the Pathway to Better Health for Diabetes Patients.


Responsibilities for the Diabetes Coordinator/Educator

  • Cooperate with the World Medical Relief team to evaluate patients' medical or physical condition and to assess client needs

  • Interview clients to gather information about their backgrounds, needs, or progress

  • Refer clients to community, social service programs and/or prescription assistance programs

  • Collaborate with partner agencies to coordinate educational program offerings at World Medical Relief


Qualifications Required

  • Clinical Social Worker license

  • Knowledge of medical terminology

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills

  • Deep understanding the psycho-social aspects of illness, in particular diabetes.

  • Superb written and verbal communication skills

  • Excellent short-term counseling skills

Operations assistant for the development department:

World Medical Relief is looking for a volunteer or intern who will support a busy and growing development, communications and outreach department by assisting the director of development and community affairs with the nuts and bolts of keeping the department humming!

This means keeping third party fundraising partner portals up to date, government document renewals, scheduling appointments, development volunteer and intern time management, correspondence, filing, copying, taking notes during meetings, meeting preparation, creating presentations, and answering email inquiries from the community. The assistant should be meticulous in his/her work, have at least a Bachelor degree, a good mastery of English, have extensive experience with Microsoft Office Suite, be able to multitask, is comfortable with new technology/sofware/apps, have a service minded attitude and a pleasant friendly demeanor.
